Pre-Pharmacy at the University of North Texas

The UNT Office of Health Professions provides direction and resources to students passionate for a career in pharmacy.  As a pre-pharmacy student, you may select any major, as long as you complete the prerequisite coursework required by each pharmacy school; though pharmacy schools do not require a 4-year degree, we strongly recommend completion of a degree as an alternative plan.  Please see the following pre-health advisor to further explore pre-pharmacy requirements:

Todd Lang, M.S.
Senior Academic Counselor

The journey through pharmacy school is quite rigorous, and it’s imperative that you prove to the schools’ admission boards that you are capable of success in their programs.  In addition to high grades and entrance exam scores, pharmacy schools will evaluate both your volunteer and shadowing experience*.  All areas are equally important in a holistic assessment of the candidate.

*Volunteering: Pharmacy schools are looking for students who have volunteered in their community.

*Shadowing: To be considered a competitive candidate, students need to shadow a professional in their field of interest.  Several hours of shadowing will display an understanding and commitment to such profession.  Pharmacy schools particularly like to see students who have experience as a pharmacy technician.
