Convert Files with TM Phonetics Font Encoding to Unicode.

Several programs are available for converting files using the TM Phonetics font encoding.

For text files on Windows computers:

Download installer to convert from TM encoding to Unicode
Download installer to convert from Unicode to TM encoding

After downloading, double click each to install the programs. You can find the .exe files in your Program Files folder and drag a shortcut to your desktop  Then, from Windows Explorer or the folder window just drag the text file that you want to convert and drop it on the shortcut.  Depending on the direction of converstion, either a new utf encoded Unicode file with the extension .uni will be created or a new TM encoded file with the extension .tm will be created.

If you have an old WP5.1 file, first open it with WP 5.1, then save it as "DOS text".   Drag and drop that text file.

For MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.:  Download  TM2Unicode.bas

To install tm2unicode.bas:  Put tm2unicode.bas into any folder.  Then, open MS Word.  Click Tools, Macro, Visual Basic Editor.  This will open the macro (VBA) editor.  Now click File, Import File..., then find tm2unicode.bas and open it.  Now click File, Save Normal.  Exit the VBA editor.

To use tm2unicode.bas:  Open MS Word and open the file that you want to convert.  Then click Tools, Macro, Macros.  Select tm2unicode and click Run.  There may be some information flickering by on the status bar at the bottom.  This tells you it's working.   A message will appear when the conversion is complete.

After you convert your file to Unicode, you will need to view it with a Unicode font.
